The Importance of Preaching the Gospel in 2024 and Beyond

Recent current events have been overwhelming for those who have their eyes fixed on the state of America’s legislative, judicial, societal dispositions. To be sure, America is in deep trouble and is speeding towards a destination that will be the catalyst for ongoing despair for the nation and the world. We should not be surprised that America is in the throws of this sadly tenuous position, because Jesus warns us in Matthew Chapter 24 that terrible days are to be expected, and that the troubles will only continue to get worse.

Psalms 33:12 says, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; And the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance.” Simply put, a nation that is in good relationship with God is a blessed nation, and its people are chosen to inherit His kingdom. I am sad to say that America at one time was much closer to this biblical statement than we are now, in fact, our country is rapidly heading in the opposite direction, and declining at an exponential trajectory.

Soon, the America we have known will be forever changed, and the luxuries of life we currently enjoy will be gone. This is not hyperbole, this is biblical truth and fact. As those days become more prevalent and people begin to feel the effects of a nation gone rogue against God and His Word, the preaching of the Gospel will be the only respite meaningful to people who will feel they have no hope, families that will be falling apart under the pressures of the day, and even Christians who will find themselves facing a crisis of faith. Only the Word of God, the Gospel of Jesus Christ will offer any strength to endure the times. and provide hope for the eternal future.

As preachers of the Gospel our mandate is clear, "Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long-suffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.” (2 Timothy 4:2-5)

The world needs the preaching of the Gospel. Even though many will refuse to hear, we must preach with power and conviction! We will be persecuted, but we must persevere and preach. We will be ridiculed, be our preaching must intensify as a result. We will be threatened with much persecution, but we must preach despite the danger to our own lives. We must preach!
